Your legacy… Their future care…
“We really appreciate, as a family, the wonderful care that our Mum received, thank you for all your kindness and support.”
These are just two lines from a letter to the hospice thanking us for the care their mother had received here, that echo oft heard sentiments from families and friends of our patients.
Much of the care we are able to give is only possible because of the gifts we have received as legacies, which over time have now become a very important part of our income. It is the income from future legacy gifts that will in large part, ensure that our care is available for generations to come.
The future holds few certainties, but one of them is that the need for hospice care will grow, for example the likely incidence of developing cancer at some time during our life, presently 1 in 3, is predicted to be 1 in 2 of us within twenty years, of course our patients are not exclusively cancer patients, although more than 90% of the patients who come into our care do have cancer.
A large part of the income St Clare Hospice will need to meet the challenges of the future will come from legacy gifts from Wills being drafted now.
Once you have made provisions for your family and friends, can you consider a gift to St Clare Hospice? This would be a gift to someone who badly needs our care, hopefully many years in the future. Neither they nor their family will be able to thank you, but perhaps the letters we receive today are in spirit addressed to all who help, however and whenever they help.
If you would like to help by making a legacy gift, and would like some more information on where to go and how to go about making your will please do contact me, Elizabeth Palfreman on 01279 773 750, or e-mail.
